A Quick And Easy Exercise To Help Blast Away Those Love Handles

Love handles are those bits of fat that exist on either side of the stomach near the natural waist line. Though exercise targeted to specific muscle groups actually does not cause fat to melt from those areas, persistent toning will create visible muscles that are useful and appealing. As cardiovascular exercise (cardio) burns calories, it's always a good idea to find a way to incorporate it into a workout. However, toning is a great start on how to get rid of love handles.

A set of dumb bells will be needed for this exercise. The weight of the dumb bells should be comfortable: they should both pose a challenge and leave room for growth. If you don't have dumb bells you can hold a can of vegetables in each hand, then snack on the veggies when your done.

Stand with a straight posture, eyes and toes forward. The feet should be shoulder width apart, and a weight should be in each hand and arms should be hanging close to your outer thighs.

Tighten the stomach as much as possible while allowing for natural breathing. The stomach should remain tight while in movement.

Bend from side to side from the waist and hold for 2-3 seconds.

Continue the exercise for 25 repetitions on each side and do 2 sets to start.

Loosen the stomach muscles after each rep and break for thirty seconds before restarting.

While doing this exercise, it's necessary to keep both feet firmly on the ground and remember to breathe naturally. It is often recommended that you work up to a total of 100 reps per day for best results. If you currently have any back or other health issues you should consult with your health care provider before starting any exercise program including this one.
Although the term "Love Handles" may sound cute, holding hands may be a better option then having your partner hold your roll of fat.

October Fest - A Festival For Beer

October fest, also known as Oktoberfest is a German beer festival that is famous tradition around the world. First started in Munich, it now accounts for almost 30% of the year's production of beer in Munich. This festival was originally celebrated as the end of the harvest season by drinking the beer that was brewed with the harvested grains. The local Munich breweries make special beer that is only available at this time of year.

Oktoberfest is a two-week celebration. It is a festival of music, food and beer with traditional dancing and singing. Oktoberfest is generally the last two weeks in September. There is traditional Bavarian style live music and dancing. The festival is unique in that it is set up with large tents. Around the inside of the tent are areas where the breweries set up temporary storefronts. In the middle are rows and rows of long trestle tables and benches for seating. The large tents can hold thousands of people. Somewhere in the middle of the tent is a band platform where each day a band plays traditional Bavarian music.

Oktoberfest is known as the largest people's fair in the world. About six million people visit Munich each year for Oktoberfest, with seating for about 100,000 under the tents. About 12,000 people are employed at the Oktoberfest. Special beer is brewed for the occasion. The six Oktoberfest breweries are Spaten, Augustiner, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbrau and Lowenbrau. In 2006 over 6 million mugs of beer were sold. Many of these specialty beers are now exported and are available worldwide.

Over the last several decades Oktoberfest has begun to be celebrated in all parts of the world. There are special October festivals in almost every country. These festivals take their cue from the original Oktoberfest in Munich. Large tents are usually set up with long, common tables. Beer tents are popular at October fests in the United States. There is also traditional German food and Bavarian entertainment. Similar celebrations are held in most countries throughout the world. These were most likely started to commemorate the German heritage of those who emigrated from Germany.

Perfect Practice Makes Perfect: Inspiring Players to Practice Their Art

As my teenage contemporaries redecorated random homes with vast strands of bathroom tissue, I was cloistered away fervently practicing my violin five hours each day. My mother never once had to remind me to practice.

Musicians advocate that practice is of utmost importance in the development of any player. Jascha Heifetz, possibly the 20th Century's most amazing violinist, said, "If I don't practice one day, I know it; two days, the critics know it; three days, the public knows it."

For something that is so crucial to musicians, it is surprising that so many players resist it. Telling a child to practice can be like asking him/her to eat brussels sprouts or to clean his/her room. As a violin teacher, I deal with the dreaded "P" word every week. (This also applies to adults!)

What's so terrible about practicing?

Priorities: The common complaint is "I don't have any time to practice." Really, in the end it's not a matter of having a "full plate." The amazing players who practice every day are not working with 28-hours a day. Students who practice regularly have simply made practicing a priority. These dedicated individuals enjoy practicing and its benefits so much that they sacrifice other activities to make time for their playing.

This doesn't mean you have to give your right arm as an offering to the merciless practice gods. You may get a bit less time on the tv or computer, or maybe you have to ignore the ringing phone until you're done. A nip and tuck here and there can add up to a lot of previously unavailable time.

Be Inspired: The key to enjoyable practicing is inspiration. For example, when a musician feels inspired by a favourite song or role model s/he is compelled to practice. Inspiration frequently emerges while attending a live concert and meeting a famous musician. Just ask anyone who's seen a famous musician play live in concert.

Perhaps the materials you're working with are too dry for your tastes? Maybe you're not being challenged enough? Discuss any inspirations or lack thereof with your teacher or another musician to get you back on track.

Set Goals: Many players also thrive on setting and meeting goals, such as to play with an advanced group, to learn a challenging piece, or to perform well in festival or an upcoming concert. My best music making has come from feeling inspired and by achieving personal aspirations.

Each summer I ask my students to set goals for the following fall and also for 1 year, 5 year and 10-year. Their responses are impressive; more than half aspire to teach violin someday and most others just want to be more confident players and to play for pay!

Check-Points: My job as teacher is to help the students make their goals a reality. We create appropriate time-lines for the goals, including check-points to make sure the players' actions are aligned with their end goal.

For example, if a student's goal is to master a concerto, we make sure they've have outlined the steps to learning the piece along with the technique and skills required required. "I'll practice these exercizes for two months, and by December I will be starting on 5th position."

Sometimes this practice involves excercizes, scales and theory, but other times it's as simple as completing a book or gaining more confidence through public performance. By setting up check-points at comfortable intervals to make sure you are on the right track and to make the overall goal seem less daunting.

And besides, life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the journey to meeting your goal and once you get there you'll have plenty more road ahead to explore.

Goals Can Change: I've always got a list of short to long-term goals for myself, ranging from one-week, one-month, six-month, and 1, 2, 5, 10-year goals. Sometimes the goals change, which is okay because I am constantly learning and growing. What was important to me 10 years ago may not be a big deal to me now. The important thing

Incentives: Everything we work for has reward. Just as brussels sprouts contribute to physical health, practice contributes to better musicianship. However, musicianship just isn't tangible to 5-year-olds.

Thus, teachers and parents are prompted to offer fun incentives for practice. Kids are rewarded with stickers, ice cream coupons and other treats. My students can earn"Fiddlebucks" for their practicing, which can be used to purchase trinkets and toys.

These programs work for most children, but even stickers can become passé after a while. Children should be encouraged to aspire to higher goals, thus setting higher rewards. As my students progress, they curb their spending to save Fiddlebucks for long-term rewards, like lunch with the teacher, which takes over a year to earn.

How to Practice: Though students understand the benefits and rewards of practice, many do not know exactly *how* to practice. Each teacher has particular requirements and expectations, but generally my "start/focus/playtime" routine works best.

Start: The student stretches and warms-up with long, clear tones, then scales and arpeggios, and finally a warm-up piece or exercise.

Focus: Here the student works on new and challenging pieces, paying close attention to detail and correcting mistakes but also focusing on his/her strengths. Focus allows the player to make improvements and build confidence simultaneously.

Playtime: Saving the best for last, Playtime is when the student reviews favourite songs and has some fun. Tasks such as playing with the radio (ear training in disguise), recording yourself, composition and improvising are all enjoyable assignments that can motivate a player.

Homework: Sometimes I assign "violin homework" to students of all ages. The assignments vary from "draw a picture of your violin," to "play a concert for your family" and"write a report about your favourite or a famous violinist." Interestingly all the children love these special assignments and become increasingly inspired and motivated to practice.

For example, one of my students e-mailed Natalie MacMaster for an essay project and was encouraged by Natalie, herself, to "play the fiddle each day." The Cape Breton Canadian fiddler said, "it really does make things better."

Consistency: I don't know how many times I've heard, "I meant to practice, but it slipped my mind." Consistency is the most important step to enjoying successful practice. The truth is that practice is best done and easiest when done consistently. The more we practice, the more we are inspired to practice.

Have a hard time with consistency? I'm sure you still manage to eat and sleep every day, so you'll find a way to get the practice in if it works around one of those schedules! Play just after waking or right before bedtime. Eat your lunch halfway between your warm-up and pieces. When you make it a routine it's harder to leave out of your day and you'll actually get it done! No more guilty lessons!

Sometimes it's not possible to play every day, but it does make a tremendous difference. For players just starting a consistent routine it's best to do two shorter practices rather than one long one. Going at it full steam can tire a player out and make them less inclined to want to do it again. You'll be left with more energy after a couple of shorter practices and will gradually lengthen them.

Family Support: It is of utmost importance that parents or spouses of aspiring musicians provide encouragement for the player. Never poke fun at sour notes or say things like, "if you don't practice we'll take away your lessons." Through thick and thin the family's job is to support the player as they master their art.

Other Perks: For students who still find it difficult to keep a practice routine I suggest they opt out of washing dinner dishes and serenade the dishwashers each night. It's amazing how quickly they jump to it when they know there is no more dishwashing! There are countless other "perks" (excuses to get out of work) to practice that can be sorted out with your family.

I spent my formative years either grounded or due for a grounding due to the occasional landscaping mummification. However, in the 542 times I was grounded, my kind mother never took away my violin. I could be heard playing my violin sadly from my bedroom prison cell: "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen."

And I loved it.

Why the Fun Fun Fun Music Festival is Growing

Festivals have been steadily gaining popularity all over the world in recent years, and the larger ones have expanded tremendously. However, as a result of the high ticket prices and relatively remote locations, a few opportunistic entrepreneurs have taken advantage of the backlash against the inaccessibility of events like Bonaroo, Lollapalooza, and other big-draw, week long festivals.

One notable example of this comes in the form of Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest, which is now in its second year. Last year's event featured over 30 bands on three stages, for a modest charge of $10. Many local and nationally acclaimed acts were featured, from punk rock bands like the venerable Circle Jerks to Austin favorites such as the Octopus Project and the Riverboat Gamblers. Large festivals aim to please as many music fans as possible by providing an incredibly diverse cross-section of acts, thereby minimizing the likelihood of alienating a potential customer.

However, the drawback to this approach is that booking such a large number of acts means paying all of them, and providing a substantial amount of infrastructure. Even in the case of events like South By Southwest, which use mostly existing clubs to showcase the artists, the number of people who can see a given act is compromised by, if nothing else, fire codes which restrict how many people can be inside a club safely at a given time. On the other hand, festivals like Fun Fun Fun Fest serve as an intermediary between the larger festivals and one-off club shows by serving a relatively small subset of the musical crowd with a lot of bands. Thus the "bang for your buck" of a large festival is preserved, while many people are still more satisfied by the relatively low ticket price, which is more in line with a club charge for seeing at most four to five bands in one night.

Fun Fun Fun also brings a somewhat different aesthetic to the standard "carpet bomb" approach discussed earlier. By appealing to a more specific (some would say discerning) crowd, the fans are more likely to be happier with the experience, therefore making them likely to return. Since their acts do range from relatively unknown to national touring acts, new musical introductions are welcome and often. The 2006 festival was (somewhat hilariously) divided into three stages according to loosely defined genres: Rock, Punk, and Electronic. While these definitions seemed a bit inaccurate, (for example, anyone who has seen Peaches live would probably have placed her in the Punk or possibly the Electronic stage before the largest Rock stage, but the genre-based stage distinctions are no longer quite so brazen in the upcoming 2007 iteration) most would have considered the 2006 Fest to be quite a success.

This year's festival has expanded quite a bit, most obviously in that it is now a 2-day affair. It still takes place in Austin's own Waterloo Park, and there are still three stages (their genres still based along the previous year's lines, without calling them such outright) but the tickets are a bit pricier at $54 a pop (which does fall in line with the 75 bands now playing). This festival now appears to be in direct competition with the Austin City Limits (ACL) Festival, but with a narrower focus. I enjoyed last year's show immensely, and the acts seemed much more tailored to my tastes than ACL, not to mention costing less than a tenth of the hard-to-obtain ACL day passes. Also, since FunFunFun happens in November, the absurd dust storms and (this year) fires are no longer a threat. "What!" you say, "A festival in Texas that's comfortable and, well, fun?" I say check out the bands and see what piques your interest. If punk rock, electronic dance music, or just plain old rock-and-roll seems up your alley, then FFFFest is a good bet.

For those of you who are planning on attending the 12th Annual Gamble Rogers Folk Festival in St. Augustine, Florida on May 4, 5, and 6 of this year, you may know that this festival showcases a variety of musical talent, ranging from Michael Smith, to The Burns Sisters Band, from Amy Carol Webb, to The Cook Trio. You may also know that this festival offers performances by local musicians, contests, arts and crafts, and discounted local accommodations. What you might not know, however, is the story behind Gamble Rogers. It's not only a tale of talent and tragedy, but also of uncompromised heroism.

James Gamble Rogers IV was born on the last day of January 1937 in Winter Park, Florida. While his father and grandfather were architectural geniuses, Rogers took a path that led him away from architecture and into the open arms of music. He became a folk singing legend - influencing Jimmy Buffet along the way and leading him to dedicate his album, Fruitcakes, to Rogers.

Called a "national treasure" by journalists, Rogers was well known for his songs about Oklawaha, Florida, a fictional town full of colorful characters and stories. He was also known for his guitar playing and uncanny ability to captivate any audience for which he performed. He reintroduced the art of story telling and served as the proverbial father of Florida Folk Music. He also released several albums, some posthumously. His albums included The Lord Gives Me Grace And The Devil Gives Me Style, Sorry is As Sorry Does, Signs of a Misspent Youth, and Good Causes.

Rogers became most revered not for his musical acts but for his act of bravery, an act that ultimately led to his death. In October of 1991, while camping in Flagler Beach, Florida, Rogers heard someone who needed help. He followed the voice to find a man named Raymond Tracey stuck in rough water. Rogers jumped in and made the ultimate sacrifice: he saved the life of Tracey and lost his own life in the process.

Folk singing, unlike other genres of music, does not belong to the young: many folk singers get better with age. Because of this, Rogers, at the time of his death, seemed to be just getting started, leaving the world of folk music to shake its head and wonder what might have been.

For his musical talent, he was inducted to the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 1987 and posthumously given a Folk Heritage Award in 1993. For his sacrificing act, Rogers was awarded the Kiwanis Award for bravery and the Carnegie Award for heroism. The area of the beach where Rogers met his death was renamed The Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler, Beach and a school in St. Augustine was renamed The Gamble Rogers Middle School in St. Augustine. Rogers memory, his songs, and tributes to him also live on at the Gamble Rogers Memorial Foundation, a foundation set up with the purpose of never forgetting a legend.

Broadway Musicals in New York City That Appeal to Student Travel Groups

Student groups traveling to New York City this fall or upcoming spring will want to be booked for a fun and entertaining evening on Broadway. I have scheduled many different types of tours (art tour, educational travel, history, music festival) to New York City. I will make some recommendations for Broadway Shows that are appropriate for high school age groups. These shows are popular choices among student travel groups, and are sure to please and captivate all.

Wicked
Instead of Dorothy and her dog, the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good witch are featured in this Broadway rendition of a rewrite of The Wizard of Oz. Gregory Maguire wrote the novel Wicked, which tells the tale of Oz from a different perspective - that of the witches -- not Dorothy and Toto. Even the Wizard of Oz is a bit offbeat and differs from the way he is depicted in the movie. Students love this drama, which includes some special effects that are sure to dazzle.

Lion King
Centered around the story of Simba, a young lion prince, this Disney classic will enthrall student audiences. The story is one of youth, loss, reckoning with the past and destiny. Simba flees his homeland after the murder of his father by Scar, his uncle. On the road he meets funny, loving companions who start him on a new path in life. Then he is called back to African Pride Lands to assume his role as king, and challenge the evil uncle who took his father's life. The Lion King score has a powerful African style drumbeat as well a popular tune composed by Elton John and Tim Rice, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Students will want to book early for this popular show, which is usually sold out well in advance.

Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera is a story and a soundtrack known across the world. Andrew Lloyd Webber's highly acclaimed inspirational music weaves the love story together. The Phantom is based on the actual story of a man who lived beneath the Paris Opera House when it was first built. The fictional storyline centers on an obsessed and secretive composer who is in love with Christina, a new opera star. The musical is filled with acts of love and betrayal. The stage set-up for The Phantom of the Opera allows for surprise entrances and solos for the Phantom, who also 'haunts' the opera house in surprising ways. This Broadway classic is sure to delight student audiences.

Momma Mia
Featuring the music of Abba, this Broadway show is an upbeat performance that will put students in that 70s mood. Dancing in the aisles is not unusual for this event, which encourages singing along too. Momma Mia is energetic and an excellent choice for high school student travel groups. It's not recommended for younger groups since the plot hinges on the discovery of the real father of Sophie, and involves a closer look at her mother's past and Sophie's true paternity. Momma Mia is a wonderful choice for high school students traveling to New York City.

Shrek the Musical
Shrek is a fairytale adventure of a fantasy creature and his friends, Donkey and Princess Fiona, and his nemesis, Lord Farquaad. Shrek was a feared monster that lived in an isolated swamp. Then one day a fairytale group of people emerged into the woods after being evicted from their homes, and spoke of their anger towards Lord Farquaad. Shrek agreed to help them get their homes back and he agreed to the rescue of Princess Fiona eventually, too. The beast falls for the beauty in this Broadway musical. Shrek is always a surefire winning choice for students, who love the costuming and setting as well as the story.

This short list of Broadway musicals is not intended to be comprehensive. But, it will serve a high school group travel coordinator well as a choice of Broadway musicals students tend to prefer.

Ghostly Happenings In Historic Prague

Much has been written about Prague; how it's a fantastic city to visit, extremely cultured and full of many architecturally beautiful buildings. That is all true, but what is less well known is that it is also a very haunted city. Indeed, the Czech capital is so full of departed souls that you can take an extensive walking tour during which you'll be 'introduced' to Prague's most famous ghosts.

People who opt to take one of the ghost tours are royally entertained by guides who usually list their occupation as 'actor' or 'entertainer', and they certainly live up to those titles as they spin their fantastic, yet scary yarns. Starting from under the medieval astronomical clock that has been ticking since 1490 at the Staromestske Namesti, your guide will regale you with some truly gruesome stories about Prague's ghostly past.

Take the story of the Young Turk who haunts Tyn Court every full moon. During the 16th century a Turkish trader at the market outside the Court fell hopelessly in love with a pretty, young blonde local girl. He begged her to wait until he had returned home to seek a Muslim blessing to marry her, and the girl waited...and waited. Indeed, she waited so long that she feared her Young Turk had given up on her and so she married someone else on the eve of the return of the Young Turk, who had secured the marital blessing. In a fit of blinding rage, he beheaded the girl; and it is said that at every full moon his ghost, full of remorse, searches the Court so he can reunite her severed head with her body.

There are many other such stories on the tour, although thankfully most are not so gruesome. But, in addition to the spectres and ghouls, Prague has much more to offer. As it suffered much less damage during World War II than many other major European cities it has retained much of its beautiful historic architecture from many different eras; Art Nouveau to Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic and Neo-Classical to the ultra modern.

There are so many places of interest to visit in The Old town, starting with the Old town Wenceslas Square, which attracts tourists from all over the world and is very close to most of the better hotels in Prague. The city also boasts an 18th century Baroque castle which is the largest in the world, and the beautiful St Vitus Cathedral.

Prague is also an incredibly cultured city. It hosts many music festivals and fashion shows throughout the year and features a National Opera, the National Gallery and numerous theatres. In addition it is a hot-bed of film production in Eastern Europe and many Hollywood films have been shot in Prague at the Barrandov studios.

So, if ghostly happenings, culture, film, architecture and history appeal to you, they're all here in this fantastic European capital.

Tarantella Pizzica - Music and Dance Spun From Myth and Psychic Energy

Most people know the Tarantella as the iconic popular music form of rural Southern Italy, but it is far more than that. It is the manifestation of a tradition that is rich in mythology and social significance, some of which have never been fully explored. It is said that the tarantella originated as a cure for people affected by the bite of the tarantula. Now this historical form, the taranta pizzica (the bite dance) is the subject of Paolo Pisanelli's documentary, Il Sibilo Lungo della Taranta (the long hiss of the spider). Pisanelli goes to the heart of tarantella culture, to Puglia, and looks at the phenomenon in the area of the Salento, the extreme southernmost part of the heel of the Italian boot.

The bite of the local tarantula is not merely a physical event, but a psychic eruption, a mystery wrapped in legend, a secret of the soul. It is not so important if these spiders really did bite women in the past (and then mysteriously stopped), what is far more significant is what role these bites and their ritual cleansings had in the society of Southern Italy. The film begins by investigating the history of tarantism, using film from a 1960s documentary. It explores the cultural legacy that tarantism has left for today's inhabitants. In the old film we see women writhing and gyrating wildly in their humble homes, as village musicians played music and sang. These ritual healings would often last through an entire night and end with the affected women making a pilgrimage to the church of St. Paul "of the Spiders" in Melpignano. The words of the anthropologist Ernesto De Martino are used to explain the psychological power of these rituals to cleanse women of the effects of an oppressive social structure. This fascinating historical study is progressively intercut with images of the people of the region today, who infect the film with their healthy optimism about life in this arid and poor region of Italy. At the same time, the film is moved forward by the prospect of a popular music festival to be held in the town of Melpignano, celebrating the traditions of Pizzica (bite) music.

Eventually, the theme of the upcoming music festival takes over. We see the preparations, the auditions, the instructions given by Maestro Ambrogio Sparagno to the performers, who will become part of a new ensemble, the Orchestra Popolare La Notte della Taranta. We see the townspeople getting excited in spite of themselves about the arrival of 50, 60 or 70, 000 people for this all night musical feast in August. The mayor of the town gives an interview in which he talks about the significance of the preservation of traditional culture for this region, which has been drained by emigration for over a century. For him and for many others, the concert has become a symbol of a healing of this open wound in the rural society. That it is also an economic shot in the arm for this isolated province is not bad, either.

The auditions are wonderful to watch, the clear, brilliant voices of the singers, mostly women, who show up to sing the age old melismatic, entrancing sounds of pizzica, add a glorious new dimension to the story. The beauty of their dark Mediterranean faces, the grace of their movements and the quicksilver flow of their singing is magical. Finally, the night of the concert arrives, "La Notte della Taranta." Tens of thousands of people have materialized, mostly young people who are filled with enthusiasm, dancing on the grass at the outdoor concert, and jumping up and down in a sea of tarantism. The elderly townspeople, who had been seen earlier in the film debating dubiously about the coming festival, are shown watching on their huge living room TVs. At first they sit skeptically on the edge of their upholstery, then they begin to clap softly, then eventually rising to their feet to dance around the room with the uncontainable joy of seeing their lifelong culture finally justified by the television cameras. For a people who have lived their culture for decades laboring under obscurity and prejudice, it is liberating moment.

Il Sibilo Lungo della Taranta is a multilayered and complex documentary that brings to life a world that is significant as a repository of ancient culture and knowledge which has been almost forgotten in our mad rush toward modernity. It is a joy to watch for any lovers of Mediterranean culture, and especially for those interested in the culture of Magna Grecia, the lands of Southern Italy that were a major part of the Greek civilization before the rise of Rome. These are the lands where the synthesis of Greek and Roman culture first came about, forming the basis for our Western world. For those of us who are the children of the great Southern Italian diaspora in Europe and the Americas, it can also have another great significance, as an opportunity to see how our ancestral lands can continue to develop and be relevant to our lives. We have forgotten too much because our grandparents spoke with a voice that we could never understand. Finally we have an opportunity to hear them speak with the voices of our contemporaries and it is a glorious revelation.

The Documentary is a production of Big Sur in collaboration with local entities of the Province of Lecce. Paolo Pisanelli is a filmmaker with several well received documentaries to his credit, including films about Don Vitaliano, the activist priest, and another about Enrico Berlinguer, the late leader of the PCI.

I was 13 years in 1968, when Henson Cargill, a relatively unknown name in country music, the head of the ranking of countries by Jack Moran and Glenn Tubb spring classics, "Skip a rope."

I was the music in new ways. And the music was changing in one important tool. Pop music has always been politically and socially aware. In a few years we have grown from "I Want to Be Your Hand" to "Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Hold,"All Along the Watchtower."

Country music has to change. Another year it was Kenny Rogers has struck with the great Mel Tillis Vietnam-inspired "Ruby, Do not Take Your Love To Town". On all fronts, popular music was social commentary on the rise.

"Skip a Rope" was another early entry to the country of "all we need is love" musical movement.

Back in those days, magazines teen music the lyrics at the top of the back of the printed publication. Ialways fascinated with songwriting: Who wrote the song, what the words mean "really", etc.

"Skip a Rope" was one of those songs that I found the words. As a child, family problems experienced were the texts most useful and problematic for me.

"Skip a Rope" treated "with everything: family discord, racial discrimination, greed ... and I was not far from literally jumping rope in the yard and heard the kind of media-kids spirit can say things that are often removedonly repeat what he had heard at home. The song rang true to me, and I think for many others.

Over the years I have often thought the "Skip a Rope" and I buzzed. I do not remember who or who wrote the song included, until I heard that Henson Cargill away at the age of 66, 24 passed in March 2007. The news has brought a flood of memories.

CMA Music Festival Massacre

This photo was taken the first 25 seconds after opening the doors to 10 clock on Thursday 11 June at the Conference Center in Nashville for the CMA Music Festival Exhibition Hall. The reason I call a massacre? 2 people were sent to hospital for surgery (which I'm surprised there were more), 1 broken arm, and a lot of knocks and bruises. Why were they running? A yellow armband, taking the privilege of himself and an autograph and photo with Reba McEntire at 3 CST. There were only 200This bracelet ... than 2000 people were screened in an effort to get these bracelets. LOL, that is not really meet the people who actually only 100 bracelets have been issued more than half of them, the handi-capable people, they can be 10 minutes before the rest of the festival visitors. If you listen carefully, you can feel the stantions metal, Copper barriers, HEAVY Metal Line barriers fell down and crashed to the ground, because these people through them as if they were paper.incredible ...

Discover New Hampshire secret corners and crevices

New Hampshire is a great destination, especially if you love outdoor activities. Most people are unaware that such a small country has much to offer, from 18 miles of the Atlantic coast of the explosion of Mount Washington to massive Lake Winnipesaukee. One of the great things about the size of the state that you can have more than one of these large areas of the Granite State carry on vacation.

The Seacoast area is a small area, but different, which is suitable forFamilies, groups of friends or couples for a romantic weekend. Beginning at the Massachusetts State Line, starting from the coast in a park was filled with beautiful sandy beaches and facilities such as toilets and picnic tables. A little 'farther is the lively Hampton Beach, with its classic waterfront East Coast, with arcades, shops and restaurants across the street from the wide beach.

The beaches become smaller and low-key, the more you go north, but the landscape is becomingare dramatic as the beaches, interspersed with rocky outcrops and tidal pools. It started on the border of Maine, just 18 miles off the coast of NH, there's Portsmouth. This ancient city is home to great restaurants, music festivals and the historic Strawberry Banke Museum, where you can tour restored colonial houses and buildings, and tour guides dressed in colonial clothes to give a real sense of the word.

Not far inland and north of the great cities of New HampshireNashua and Manchester is the state capital, Concord, which is basically the door to the lakes. There are many large lakes in this area, the largest and best known of these is Lake Winnipesaukee. Popular sites are along the Winnipesaukee Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough and Wolfeboro. These cities are an ideal starting point if you're interested in hiking, boating, fishing, check out NASCAR race at New Hampshire International Speedway or places of historical interest.

But there is aNumber of quieter, less lakes that are great deals for relaxation. Especially noteworthy Newfound Lake, Squam Lake and Lake Winnisquam, and Ossipee. Most of these lakes are at the foot of the White Mountains as a backdrop and offer a wonderful environment, especially in autumn.

Further north, if seen on the back of the road or on Interstate 93, is in Franconia Notch State Park, through which the Appalachian Trail also passes soon. In addition to great hiking, thereare many family attractions for different age groups, from Story Land and Santa's Village, the Log Flume and Lost River Gorge. This area is beautiful in summer and during the spectacular fall foliage season. Just remember that you should visit this area, if you will be joined by hordes of leaf-watchers from all over the Northeast. It can be very comprehensive, though it's usually worth it.

Only a little further north, in the heart of the White Mountains, the views areeven more dramatic. In the White Mountains, you can swim in raging rivers, fishing in lakes and streams, hiking the rocky summit, winding country roads by bicycle, golf, tennis, horseback riding. And for those who need a break from the outdoors, there are many museums and tax-free shopping, especially in North Conway.

The region of lakes and the white mountains with ski resorts such as Waterville Valley and Loon Mountain punctured. Many area golf coursesbe cross-ski areas for winter.

Beyond the White Mountains and the Great North Woods, where they are almost the same probability of encountering a moose people. This is a paradise for fishing and hunting, as wildlife is abundant.

Along the western border of New Hampshire, Connecticut River, which divides the state of Vermont. The landscape is beautiful and less densely populated areas less accessible in New Hampshire. Dartmouth College, located in the city of Hanoverprovides a kind of cosmopolitan culture of the region. The city has excellent restaurants, shops, theaters, cinemas and an eclectic. Not far from Hanover, Lake Sunapee is a big project in the summer and Mount Sunapee is a winter sport.

South-west of New Hampshire is Mount Monadnock, dominates one of the highest mountains hiked in the world. The upper part sometimes rocky, and the parties offer an excellent view of New England, the Atlantic Ocean and Boston, on clear days. This regionhas its share of picturesque towns, and Keene, a small town, a host State College. Keene's annual Halloween Jack O'Lantern Festival seems to grow in popularity each year.

Although many hiring decisions in New Hampshire, the best way to get to enjoy all this beauty is to rent an apartment, cabin or cottage. Is that Camping Real?

This is one aspect of the camp, which generate no end of discussion - in particular, as others do it! Purists - backpacking tent campers - look at the luxury motorhomes and trailers, fifth wheel, and say: "This is not a REAL camping!"

For their part, the owners of large excavation on wheels by a vision of small tents and say, 'Poor dear! Too bad they can not afford camp REALLY! And so on and so forth.

There is no middle ground? There such a thing as REALCamping? I know that I will never be able to resolve this problem, but as the owner of this blog, then I throw my two cents worth.

First I'll tell you my experience of camping, so you know, I'm not really taking one side or the other out of ignorance. As you may know, I started camping with the kind permission of the United States Army. We shared two man pup tents with air mattresses (ground) and sleeping bags individually. The temperature does not matter! The army is an 24/365.

On aPersonally, still in the army, I started camping with tents, which were much better looking than the version the Army. Mine really their plans! Woohoo! I thought it was pretty cool, if I have a bed on which lay my sleeping bag - no more sleeping on the hard stony ground received.

There were nice facilities such as toilets, sinks and shower. I had to leave the campsite toilets for them. I chilled a stove and a little 'cooler bags with ice. The man, than to live inField, while during the maneuvers, this was the life!

I was also a motorcycle tour again with some friends and spent the night at campsites. We performed small tents, sleeping bags and camp stoves. We had a fantastic time.

Then came a pop-up tent camper. Most of the bodies were the same, but was established much easier when he moved late. I still use public toilets, but this trailer lights and had a table and seating. Wow

My first travel trailer was not"separate". That forced me to bring the waste water and the lower half of PortaPotti for the toilet. But! This actually had a stove, a stove and a refrigerator gas/12-volt integrated. Boy, I was moving with a time of great with this!

From that moment my family and I enjoyed traveling and camping with the establishment of a wide range of trailers, vans and campers. Our plant is a diesel pickup truck pulling a 31-foot trailer, thea large slide-out and is suitable for four seasons. Of course it is entirely independent.

One or more nights I can rent my private campground. Normal label camping is not making noise that disturbs your fellow campers aged 6 to 10 clock clock It's just considered normal for others, what is expected of them.

Most campsites are located in areas outside of itselftraffic noise and pollution of cities. If you can relax in tranquil surroundings, many campsites and a few hotels that meet the expectations.

Of course, one of the biggest things is the camaraderie among the camp camper. You can walk around the campsite and the people you will be allowed to appreciate as you pass through. If you see an interesting device, you can pause and ask the owner about it. Probably we invite you to sit and drink a cup of coffee. Try that in aHotel! They are called security on you in a heartbeat.

These things are all, no matter what kind of camp that regardless of the type of material being used. Campers love for the other campers. Believe me, many owners of campers began in a tent, too!

The bottom line is that they are all camping. Enjoy what you want, and not only on what you believe someone else thinks to worry about. Do not be afraid to try different types of camping.They could only come to something that we thought would never enjoy.

Which is also an enjoyable part of camping. Just go out and enjoy.

I was at Woodstock (Kathy and I are married), the same day. I do not know anyone that there is only music festival. Actually, I do not think I am gone, though I was in the neighborhood ( "Far out, man would have").

I would have liked some 'music for you, but I never imagined staying in an open field for two or three days. I think they are too tame.

The political atmosphere at that time was inconvenient. Boomers years there have been 19, 20, 21 of age at the time we thought we knew everything, because we were smarter than those who preceded us. We were much smarter than our parents and grandparents.

The Ravinia Festival is an annual festival of music which takes place at Ravinia Park in Chicago, Illinois. The drama is the latest Rock CD insert, the very group Yes, and have once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I'm confident Yes fans and rock fans with this is to be met.

Drama begins with a beautiful track, Machine Messiah, I will be heard on the radio around the world to anticipate and rightly so. It 'a very nice track.

It is a drama well-varied mix of 16 tracks that are very well written and brilliant songs by these clearlytalented musicians. Most of the songs show a match like to hear, the emotion that makes for really great. Of course, drawing from what I can only imagine their real experiences. At different points, the emotions of true love, heartbreak, pain, touch and has no unattainable romance. Are all here.

I listen and I think you'll agree that the song choices are excellent, the production is excellent and, yes, it is clearly a group that is at the topShape.
